Äerd Lab’s 3D-Printed Péckvillercher Now Available at Luxembourg House

This National Day, Äerd Lab reimagined a beloved Luxembourgish tradition - giving the iconic Péckvillercher a modern, sustainable twist.

Meet our take on the Péckvillercher: the small, bird-shaped clay whistle traditionally gifted during Luxembourg’s Émaischen festival. Deeply rooted in local heritage, this whimsical object has long symbolized community, craftsmanship, and celebration. This year, we were invited to reimagine it -  and we couldn’t resist.

Staying true to what we do best, we created 250 whistles, all 3D printed from natural clay, merging contemporary fabrication with ancestral material.

But we didn’t do it alone. We partnered with Usch Biver, a master ceramicist from Nospelt, to ensure each bird didn’t just look the part - but actually sings.

The result is a playful yet deeply respectful tribute to tradition: where digital design meets cultural continuity. Each whistle honours the spirit of Émaischen while demonstrating the creative potential of sustainable technologies in preserving and evolving craft.

Designed in close dialogue with the LuXembourg Collection, these modern Péckvillercher aren’t just staying local. They’re flying out to embassies around the world as part of a broader cultural exchange — small birds carrying a big story.

Pssst: They’ are available at the Luxembourg House!
